Down by the Bay ♥

Hanauma Bay. This had to be the highlight of the trip. There's something magical about being underwater. That adrenaline of the unknown (I freaked out a little when this gigantic fish swiftly swam under me.), the atmosphere.. nothing quite like it. It's almost like an entirely different world down there. Of course, it was nothing short of being picturesque. My camera was having a field day. Unfortunately I don't have many clear pictures while snorkeling :( Note to self: invest in a waterproof case for my s100.

It costs $7 per person for entry, but it is so worth it. And I believe rentals for snorkeling gear was around $15? Best money I've spent in awhile! Upon your entry, you'll have to watch a video about the preservation of the coral reefs, and the bay itself. As well, the history of this beautiful nature reserve. If you're in Oahu, this is a must! I could spend an entire day here. Perhaps I will think about getting my diving cert.. Hmm.

Blown Away ♥

Pali Lookout. Where my hair got violated like there's no tomorrow. Well, this turned out to be one of my favorite scenic points. (Then again, it's a tough draw between all scenic areas in Hawaii!) It's about a 5 mile drive north east from downtown Honolulu, and offers some of the best panoramic views of the island I've seen. Beautiful mountain peaks, lush greenery, and stunning ocean blues.

Pali Lookout is the site of the Battle of Nuuanu, which occured in 1795. King Kamehameha I won the battle that finally united Oahu under his rule. A battle that had claimed hundreds of soldiers’ lives, many of which were forced off the cliffs.

Both times we were there, we had such different experiences. Both windy, but weather conditions definitely do vary, so be prepared! From strong howling winds with sunny breaks, to torrential downpours.. this place never fails to surprise you. But when the skies clear, this breathtaking site with rich Hawaiian history manages to leave you in awe of it's beauty.

Seaside Cruisin' ♥

Halona blowhole is one spot we frequently passed by, as it is right by the main highway route. A quick stopover turned into some of my favorite photographs. This place is always scattered with tourists (especially massive tour buses) and locals alike, but so far parking here hasn't been a problem, despite the number of people that visit each day.

The blowhole is a basically a rock formation that spews water out of the blowhole, resembling a water fountain. (The Fountains of Bellagio has nothing on this! Haha jk.) Check for high tides as that's when the blowhole is most active. To the left of the blowhole is Sandy Beach, and to the right is a little getaway gem called Halona Beach Cove, if you manage to make your trek down! Many overlook this somewhat-hidden gem as the trek down appears daunting.. but you definitely won't regret it! Next up.. Pali lookout! One of my favorite spots from this trip.
