Hello, December, you're finally here ♥

(Via jeansbeans. Check out her Tumblr. It is soo cute!)

With December being one of the busiest months of the year, I've doubled with my to-do lists. But what I've lacked to do is to really enjoy this holiday season. I think we all ought to count our blessings more and remind ourselves of what's really important. With that being said, check out the cute to-do list picture I've posted above!

Time sure flew by pretty quickly this year. Has it really been a year?! Fashion school has been a great learning experience, (It is not all play and no work like some of you guys think it is!!) but I'm kind of glad it's almost done. Although at the same time.. I'm a little nervous as to what's next for me. I'm graduating in 2 weeks. Two. Weeks. But, I can say I have the utmost faith in His plan for me, so I'm reassured :)

On another note, as of late.. my aunts (very nosy aunts) have been asking me when I'm going to start dating again, or whether I have an interest in anyone. They're even trying to introduce guys to me. To be completely honest? I have no desire to date at the moment. (I'm still so young! Lol.) I'm not going to use the "I'm-too-busy" excuse (Although most of the time.. I really AM busy), but I'll say this.. I just want to enjoy my own time right now. Does that come across as being selfish? Maybe. Its the only time I get to have to myself. Having the freedom to whatever I want, whenever I want. It's been a few years since my last relationship, and I've quite enjoyed the time alone. With that being said though, it's not like I don't want want to be in one. Just not right now. Timing is everything, and I know it's not the right time for one. I'm a firm believer of everything happens for a reason. So when it's the right time, it'll happen. The only downside of being single? Spending holidays without a special someone. Oh well, I still have my awesome friends :)

Now onto the blog challenges..

Day 7 - Four turn offs. Ties in to dating. So here goes.

1. Guys who are disrespectful. Doesn't matter to who, but as long as you're rude and a douche, you're not worth even talking to.
2. I don't like it when guys dress from head to toe in Ed Hardy.. or Smet or Christian Audigier. Oh and that stupid Gucci murse or pouch. That does not make you look any more hardcore. Or cool. You just look douchy. Please get a change of wardrobe asap.
3. Guys who swear. Major turn off.
4. Smokers. Another big turn off.

Day 22 of the Thanksgiving Challenge.

I'm thankful for..

1. How well Dream Night went. And the people who came out to support!
2. The sound of rain. Just something so calming about it.
3. Days I get to spend with my cousins. I haven't seen one of them since the summer! And we live in the same city.. how sad is that.
4. My dad leaving me little giftcards every so often.
5. Reliable group members. Love ya girlies!
6. Being 2 weeks away from graduation!!
7. My aunt offering me a trip to Disneyland with her and our family.
8. My grandma visiting me up in March. I miss her!
9. Friends that live in other parts of the world. I get to crash with them whenever I'm in their city! And I get to experience different cultures.. local style.
10. Secret Santas :) and the season of giving.

The old, revisited ♥

Just pulled these old shots from the archives. Let me know what you think! Been wanting to shoot lately.. but I'm waiting for my new lens to get back on board with it. Can't wait!! Been looking through old files instead to re-edit some shots that I really liked.

Brrr it's cold in here ♥

Welcome winter. It was freezing today. Excuse to get some awesome winter gear? I think so! Too bad I've spent quite a bit of money on a new lens.. Expect some awesome shots soon. Times like these I wished I was cozied up in a cabin somewhere, with endless snowfall, a good book, some hot chocolate.. and great company. Now doesn't that sound relaxing? Sounds like my perfect Christmas. With that being said, I'm thankful for these things today. Day 21. Let's go.

(via weheartit)

1. Snow. Even though commuting can be quite a pain, and people are so damn impatient when it comes to transiting, I love fresh snowfall.
2. Good samaritans. All bus services were not running at SFU due to snowfall, and students who drove, gave others a ride down as most of them were walking down the mountains.
3. Hot chocolate. On a day like this.
4. My mom's emails. They're pretty funny.
5. My grandmother's trip down to Vancouver this spring! Can't wait to see her, and spend time with her and my aunt + twins!! It's going to be a fam jam.
6. Mittens. I'm thinking of getting new ones..
7. Causes like the blanket drive. I believe that we should all try and give back somehow to those in need.
8. Credit cards. So I can shop online!
9. Friends that keep me accountable so I have a proper sleeping routine. Y'all know who you are. Still a working progress though! :)
10. People who shovel their sidewalks.

& now for the other challenge.. Day 6. Five people who mean a lot to me. Hmm I think I'd have to say 5 groups instead of people.

1. My parents. Can't thank them enough for everything they've done. We've had our ups and downs, but ultimately, family is always first.
2. My grandparents. For raising me all these years. For all those endless memories and love. I've had a fond childhood thanks to them.
3. My "Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego" friends. Aka Jerbear & ALo. Y'all are awesome. Nuff' said.
4. BHLC Family! Wow where do I begin? So grateful for everything you guys have done for me in the past years. Mad love.
5. My extended family. Even though we're miles apart.. we always remain close. Always missing you guys! Can't wait for a family reunion.

P.S To a reader who chose to remain anonymous. I've said it before. All the pictures I didn't take (Most of them on my blog are usually the ones I do. I try and keep it that way.) are via weheartit.com.

The shift ♥

I haven't taken pictures.. in what seems like a very long while. I kinda miss it. I really do miss it. I miss capturing moments that lasts a lifetime, and allows me to go back to when that picture was taken, and re live the moment. Thinking of purchasing a new lens asap, so I can start bringing around my camera everywhere. And also because that lens is amazing. Other than my awesome friends being my models, I haven't been too inspired to shoot.

I think I'm stuck in a photography rut. I miss being able to travel and take pictures, see the world and what it has to offer, you know? It's about time I get back into it. I know 2011 will be a year of endless captures, from trips, photoshoots and beautiful moments. Now to start saving up..

Moving on to today's challenges..

Day 5 – Six things you wish you could change or wish you’d never done

1. I wish I spent more time with my grandfather before his passing. He was a man that I truly respected. I miss him everyday, and I think he knows that. I guess I was too young then, and I took things for granted. He's someone I hold very dear to my heart.
2. I wish I never gave you that many chances. Even though I was warned by everyone.. I always gave you the benefit of the doubt. You truly don't deserve it.
3. I wish I kept in touch with you all these years. I get that things change, and we both went our separate ways, but it's just sad to think that you were once everything I knew.
4. I wish I got to know my grandmother (from my dad's side) better. There is sort of a language barrier, but I could've put in more effort. There's still time to change that though.
5. I wish I never gave up on competitive swimming. Even though it was quite an intensive routine.
6. I wish I wasn't so hard-headed sometimes.

Day 21 of the Thanksgiving Challenge:

1. Surprising change in weather. The day started off pretty gloomy.. and it was sunny after! Great way to start my day. With sunshine!
2. Forgiveness. That I'm able to find it within me to forgive someone.
3. My parents constant support with my photography, and all things art/design related.
4. My parents dedication to their church, and having such big hearts to support however they can.
5. Christmas! It's not here yet, but I enjoy the spirit of giving!
6. Christmas songs. It's time to bring those out :)
7. The challenges that comes with relationships. Can be a bit of a struggle sometimes, but it is what makes it stronger.
8. Being Singaporean. I love that city, and whatever happens, it'll always be my first home.
9. A stack of movie tickets my mom leaves for us. Free movies! Woot.
10. Mini surprises from awesome friends of mine!

Move Along ♥

Back to the challenge. I'm so inconsistent with my blogging lol. Making an effort here! Onto day 4 of the 10 day challenge. And I'm going to throw in what I'm thankful for today as well :) 7 things that cross my mind a lot? A lot of things cross my mind hahaha. That is why I'm always up. Anyways.. here goes.

1. God. Nuff' said.
2. Family. I have family all over the world, so I do think of how they're doing, how their day is going, what's new.. and all that. I miss all of them dearly, and can't wait for a large family reunion.. like the one we had almost 10 years ago.
3. Work. I will be graduating soon.. and I haven't exactly come up with a game plan. Although things are starting to appear more clear with what I want to do.
4. My friends. I worry about them way too much sometimes. But they know it's cus I love them. I try and find time during the week to meet up, or make time for them, as do they.
5. Boys. Guys? Men. Somehow men sounds old. I'll stick with guys. No one in particular though.. Or is there?
6. Photoshoot ideas. Yup it's actually something I think about quite often.
7. The future. I can't wait to see what awaits :)

And now the thanksgiving challenge. I think I'm on Day 20.

1. My favourite corn soup. I'm glad I'm able to make it and enjoy it on a cold day like this.
2. My mouse! I hate using the laptop without one.
3. Late night conversations with close friends.
4. Extra rooms in the house. I sometimes like to sleep there because my room is way too bright in the morning.
5. Bags. I'm glad I'm able to switch those up from time to time.
6. Ideas for the Dream Night video
7. Amy and I spending the day to come up with video concepts, then having lunch and watching Gossip Girl.
8. Sites like Fail Blog. Too funny. Whenever I need a good laugh, it helps.
9. Days I don't have to use makeup!!
10. Other blog readers who inspire and encourage me with their comments and thoughts :) Love y'all. Mwah.

What dreams are made of ♥

Dreams. We have them, and some of us are fortunate enough to live them. What are your dreams? Your aspirations? I remember growing up, I always wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. My parents never ever pressured me (Which I am so thankful for), but I always felt the need to get a job either in a finance industry, or a job that was deemed "respectable" in the Asian culture. However.. with time, and through trials and tribulations, I have ended up in Fashion. I've had a thing for the Arts growing up as well. Painting, drawing, music.. you name it. And looking back, I feel so blessed that I was given a choice. To do what I love, and have opportunities that would lead me to that. A lot of us are so fortunate, yet blinded by what we have, that we don't realize what others need. Something as simple as education.

To be completely honest, being in Fashion school has taught me a lot. But it has also opened my eyes. To see things I didn't see, and to change for the better. I fully admit, I've always wanted that "glamourous" lifestyle. I mean who doesn't, right? Fancy shoes, beautiful gowns, a nice house, and a nice car. Not having to worry about finances, and to just live life in luxury. In Singapore, it was always about the 5 Cs. Condo, cash, car, credit card, country club. I lived that lifestyle. But there's so much more to life than that. I really don't think I can live a fulfilling life if I continued with that, and didn't change my ways.

Here we are, living our lives, and dreaming dreams that some can never make a reality. If we're blessed and fortunate enough to be able to do this over here in this part of the world, why can't children in less fortunate countries be given the same opportunity? Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world. And right now we have a chance to give back, and make a difference. What's stopping us? What's stopping you?

This is one of my dreams. To give the less fortunate kids in India the possibility of a future. Even if what I contribute is just a fraction of the big picture, I'll try. Dream big, and some dreams can come true. Today, I found out that a businessman was so touched and impressed by what our small church aspires to accomplish, which was to raise $100,000 to build a school for the Dalit kids in India.. that he decided to match whatever we raised, up to $50,000. Isn't that amazing? Always, always pay it forward. Share the Love, Faith, and Hope. Remember, God always provides :)

As simple as it gets ♥

Day 3: 8 ways to win my heart

I'm easily amused but hard to impress. Here goes.

1. Guys with any sort of musical talent. Usually involving singing, guitars or pianos. I have a soft spot for guitars. Singing + guitaring? You have my heart hahaha. Nah, but it'd be cool to have a boy that enjoys jam sessions as much as I do, and that I'm able to kick it with just jamming. Who wouldn't like that?
2. Being spontaneous. As much as I love schedules.. sometimes I would rather just not know what's next. I love spontaneous night drives with an awesome view :) Or conversations!
3. Guys who can cook! You don't have to be a chef, but if you can cook something other than eggs, instant noodles, or KDs, I'll be impressed.
4. Guys who stand up for others. Man up, boys. If you see something that's not right, or someone not being treated well that you know, do something. Don't just let it slide.
5. Having a good heart. Guys who give back to our community, and help those in need. Nothin' like a boy with a big heart!
6. Nothing wins me over more, than seeing a guy respect and love his family as much as I do. I like guys who are family-oriented.
7. A small way to win my heart is to do little things for me. Honestly.. it's the little things that count. Call or text me during the day to ask how it is. Bring me BBT! Hahaha. Well, I love doing things like that for people, so it's nice when a guy I like does the same for me.
8. Be sincere. Show that you genuinely want to spend time with me, and get to know me. I can tell off the bat if you're not being real.

Here we go again ♥

Spent a whole day working on papers, assignments.. you name it. My stress level has been increasing gradually throughout the day. I'm glad the night is dying down. Yup, at 12:45 am. That's how I roll. I am in need of a getaway. Anywhere with a beautiful beach front would work. Although I'm probably going to wait till the summer comes along. Summer 2011 ASIA!! Along with Fio, Paul & Pabs :) And whoever else wants to join us of course. It'll be a good time for me to learn about other cultures, experience different things different countries have to offer, as well as travel with some awesome friends. Our travel itinerary includes Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, and possibly Taiwan. Can't wait!

So onto Day #2 of my 10 day challenge..

Nine things about myself. Hmm.

1. One of the things I really hope to do in the near future, is compile a book of my grandmother's recipe. It's been passed down from generations. Doesn't get more authentic than that.
2. I initially wanted to be a Fashion Designer, but I can't sew.. so there's your answer.
3. I come from a very multicultural family. I have aussie cousins, half-brit family members, family from the Philipines, India, Malaysia, U.S.. list goes on.
4. I eventually hope to get into Photography as a career, as well as working within a church ministry, or the missions field.
5. I can be quite a hopeless romantic.
6. I come from a family of competitive swimmers. My cousin has swam the English Channel. Yup crazy, I know.
7. I love shoes. I think it might be a bit of an obsession. Although lately... I've been more inclined to buy kicks instead of heels. Yay for chucks! Oh, and if you're looking for a pair of pretty comfy shoes for a good cause, buy a pair of TOMS! For every pair you purchase, another pair will be donated to a kid in need. So get involved in this awesome movement :)
8. My favourite ice-cream flavour is Green Tea. Bring me some and it's the easiest way to cheer me up on a bad day. With your company of course hahaha.
9. I have a fascination with the Peranakan culture. Well, it is my culture after all. But if I've always wondered what it'd have been like to live in a beautifully crafted home, where women had to learn how to cook and sew, and make beaded shoes. Unfortunately most of what's left of the culture is slowly fading. Wished I got to see the houses my ancestors lived in. I've seen pictures, and it's beautiful.

Ok Day 19 of the Thanksgiving Challenge!! Woo.

1. My hair straightener. Sometimes I don't want my hair to look too wavy.
2. Hair dryer! It's essential lol.
3. Patience. I had a hard time being patient with my project today.
4. Andrew being a call away when I need a quick confirmation about something :)
5. Our praise and worship team. You guys always rock it.
6. Discount coupons!! I will be spending quite a bit tomorrow @ Michaels.
7. Days off class.
8. I don't really drink beer.. so I'll say martinis/cocktails? Have y'all tried the Singapore Sling ;)
9. Weheartit.com. They have such inspiring pictures! Most of my pictures are from there.
10. Sites that I can stream TV episodes I've missed.

I'm taking the challenge ♥

So I'm starting this new blogging challenge. (On top of the 40 day Thanksgiving challenge) Hopefully I'll be able to go through with it. It is only 10 days after all..

Day 1 – Ten things you want to say to 10 different people right now
Day 2 – Nine things about yourself
Day 3 – Eight ways to win your heart
Day 4 – Seven things that cross your mind a lot
Day 5 – Six things you wish you could change or wish you’d never done
Day 6 – Five people who mean a lot to you
Day 7 – Four turn offs
Day 8 – Three turn ons
Day 9 – Two smileys that describe your life right now
Day 10 – One confession

Let's start. Day 1? 10 things to 10 people? Easy.

1. Throughout this past year, you've been such an amazing friend. I couldn't ask for a better person to be in my life. I'm glad I've also gotten to know you a lot better this year. Thanks for always being there to lend a listening ear, for the talks, and hang outs.
2. I wished you'd let your guard down a little, so more people could see this side of you, that not many can see. Underneath all that tough exterior, you're just like every other person. Lighten up a little! I think you'll enjoy life a whole lot more.
3. It was awesome meeting you this year. I must say, you're quite a character. Nonetheless, you've been such a blessing in my life. Through the ups and downs, I'm glad I was able to be there when you needed it. Thanks for all the good times :) More to come!
4. I don't know how I feel about you, but I guess time will tell. People change, right? I can't believe I considered dating you at one point lol.
5. There's more to life than money and power. You should use that to buy yourself a ticket to the slums to see how fortunate you are, you brat.
6. Sometimes I wished things didn't change between us. But I'm glad you're at a good point in your life right now. You deserve it.
7. I miss you, and I always wonder what things would've been like if I stayed on.
8. I don't think you know how much admiration I have for you as a person. You're so talented, and God has blessed you with so many gifts. Embrace it. Keep doing what you're doing, because you're going to make it big one day.
9. Thanks for the awesome chats, and the messages throughout the day :) I don't think I've said it, but it's something I look forward to.
10. It's awkward. But I don't think you've realize. I hope time changes things, and you'll change too. You have so much heart. Let other people see that too.

Now the 10 thinks I'm thankful for today:

1. Old magazines. So I can do tearsheets for projects and inspirations
2. Instant food! I'm lazy sometimes.
3. Internet. It's super convenient.
4. My friends keeping me motivated!
5. Awakening album. Awesome songs.
6. My mom making banana cake today. Mm so good.
7. My backyard. It was good to get some fresh air.
8. BBT runs. Thanks Jay! ♥
9. Old blog posts. They remind me of how much I've changed, and of course the memories from that time.
10. My PSP. It's pink too! Hehe

Vlog, saaay what? ♥

30 Day Blog Challenge
Day 30: A photograph of youself today + three good things that have happened in the past 30 days

I decided not to blog about it, but do a vlog instead. Check it out here. Sorry it isn't perfect haha. I did it in one take.

But onto Day 17 of the 10 things I'm thankful for:

1. Foreign films! I recently came across a Taiwanese film about gangsters, called Monga. Pretty good stuff.
2. Webcams on my laptop. Good for Skyping + recording Vlogs :)
3. Amy's dedication and awesome ideas for Dream Night.
4. Mail in my letterbox! I love reading letters from Singapore, and also shopping discounts!!
5. My 3 in 1 printer haha.
6. Not having a dishwasher. Yup, I'm Asian like that. I actually like doing the dishes.
7. Ricecookers! Can't live without rice in this household that's for sure.
8. My cousin always being a call away, and buying me things whenever I see something I like online from Singapore lol.
9. Other bloggers. I've met some pretty awesome people via blogging!! Y'all know who you are :)
10. Ice-cream. When I'm having a bad day, it helps.

Passion 2010 + Gratitude Challenge Day 16 ♥

(Credit: Mike Colasi)

Our God is awesome. Passion World Tour made their final stop yesterday. In Vancouver!!! Wooo! So glad and blessed that we were one of the 7 cities they managed to make a stop at. It was a sold out crowd. For those of you who weren't there, you just had to be to feel His presence, and the love and passion from the crowd. It was a night of powerful, powerful amazing worship, prayer, and the people of our city coming together to praise Him. He has awakened this generation, and it is so awesome to see. God is going to do some pretty amazing work in this beautiful city of ours.

To the city of São Paulo, thank you for your prayers. It's so humbling and amazing to see that your thoughts and prayers are with us, and that you guys kept the wrist bands on for two months till the night of the concert! Love and prayers being sent back your way :) Next up? Atlanta 2011!!

Also - I think with last night, it has been more clear as to what I want to do with my life.

With that being said, I'm going to give thanks for yesterday.

1. Passion making Vancouver as one of the 7 stops. I can't say this enough, but it was an unforgettable night.
2. Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Chris Tomlin & David Crowder Band. Powerful worship!
3. People from the city of São Paulo. Thank you for your prayers. Much love.
4. Power of prayer during last night.
5. The songs "Our God" & "Awakening" by Chris Tomlin.
6. The awesome crowd at the concert.
7. Bumping into people I haven't seen in awhile at Passion!
8. The double rainbow right before the doors were opened at Passion :) Beautiful sight.
9. Jerry opening his home up to us, and making us food for a time of fellowship.
10. Rogers Arena, that they're able to house this event, and allow people of this city to come together to praise Him.

Autumn & Gratitude Challenge Day 15 ♥

I had my first midterm today for this semester.. and boy am I happy that's over. Hopefully I did okay. Got off class fairly early because of that, and hung out with the guys. I love days like these. Spontaneous and chill. It's nice to catch up with them sometime during the mid week, in the midst of our busy schedules. The weather was simply beautiful, and the colours of fall never fails to amaze me. Also took Jules out for a walk! She is quick to learn, and sooo adorable

On another note.. I truly miss photography. I haven't been taking pictures because for one - I haven't been inspired. Two? I've been sick, busy and not exactly in the mood to. Anyways, thought I'd post some pictures from previous shoots with Vanessa that I liked :) Enjoy!
