Wardrobe Woes

Hello all! Sorry for being M.I.A. Been crazy busy with school, as well as planning among other things. I know I'm way overdue for a blog post.. So here it is. This one is specially for Danielle, as she wanted to know what every woman must have as staples in her closet. This is definitely just a list, and a guide to follow by. By no means is this a list that you have to follow. Other ladies might have a different opinion on their must-haves for staples! So here's my top 14.
  • Little Black Dress: Every woman has to have one. It's classic, chic and effortless. Never goes out of style. Pair it up with accessories and you're good to go for a night out, or a corporate event.
  • Denim: Be it Skinnys, boyfriends or Straight-cut. Denim is a staple in one's closet. Goes with everything. Literally. Old pair of denim you don't use anymore? Turn them into cut offs for the summer!
  • Plain T-Shirts: White, Grey, Navy.. Basic Tees are the way to go. An everyday essential.
  • Dress Shirt: Casual or Dressy, take your pick. You could always borrow your man's if you don't have one. Tuck it in some trousers, and you're set for the office. Or an alternative - Belt it up, and pair it with some leggings and you're good to go.
  • Pencil Skirt: Same as the dress shirt, put your own take on it. From office wear to after hours.
  • Leggings: THEY DO NOT REPLACE PANTS. Just saying. Sweatpants alternative? Sure, just make sure your butt is covered. Oh and printed leggings are pretty awesome, if you can pull it off.
  • Trenchcoat/Peacoat: If you live in Vancouver, you especially need one. The classic that never goes out of style. Keeps you warm too.
  • Blazer: The boyfriend blazer is my favourite. But any others work well too. Another piece you can take it from day to night.
  • Spanx: Body-shaping, women's secret. Enough said. If you don't know what this is.. I suggest you find out asap.
  • Cardigans: Available in a variety of prints and colours, it's also another must-have. Pair it on with some trousers, or a dress.
  • Watch: I love love love Gold watches. To me, they're timeless and fabulous. Although everyone else has their own preferences, I suggest investing in a good watch that'll last for years to come.
  • Sunglasses: Find one that suits your face shape, and have fun with it!
  • Accessories: Necklaces, rings, bracelets, hats, scarves. Mix and match. I find some of my coolest jewelry at Vintage Stores.
  • Shoes: A pair of basic black & nude pumps will have you set. Of course.. a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes. I have an obsession with gladiator-inspired heels. They're just killer. Oh and flats are essential as well. They're a lifesaver when you've spent the past 8 hours in heels. A pair of rainboots? - Only if you live in Vancouver. You ladies know how it is. A good pair of leather boots would be a nice addition as well.
Also, I met up with the lovely Vanessa of thehautepursuit over the weekend for a photowalk! Check her blog out, it's awesome :)

Nobody said it was easy

" Sometimes, you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and where you want to be. "

This will be one of my more personal posts. Just a heads up. As of late.. I find myself back at square one again. There's so much that makes me want to stay, but at the same time.. the things that make me want to leave is on par. Almost. It's a constant struggle back and forth. I absolutely hate it. Half the time I find myself questioning as to what I'm doing here. What I initially thought was a pretty damn clear sign of where I should be, now lies in total uncertainty. I wish I could just pack up and leave. Travel the world, meet cool people, and not have any obligations. But that's not realistic at all. Not right now anyways. I miss the adventures, the moments that take my breath away, and just spending some quality time with my family and friends. I feel completely swamped with everything, that I can't breathe. I obviously do a pretty damn good job of not showing it.. just because I don't think it's something to be shown. But I guess at some point, I just need a shoulder or two to lean on amidst all of this. Thanks to the few who have been there, y'all know who you are. Also.. I think I might have jumped into things too quickly, only to realize again that slowing down is really a better path. I have built walls to guard my heart, that only so few can hurdle across. I feel like I need to step back and reevaluate what I really want in life. Who I am.. Where I want to be.

On another note, I want to thank you. Thanks for everything you have have done as of late. The talks, walks, and good times. Thanks for being real with me. For introducing me to new things. For putting a smile on my face. For simply.. being you. You're a great friend, and I wouldn't change that for the world.

Return of the Denim Dress ♥

Spring is here, and summer is fast approaching.. It's that time of the year again. Dress season! I'd have to say more than 30% of my closet consist of dresses. It's the easiest thing to wear, and it literally goes with everything. Slip one on, and you're good to go. I went shopping today, and I found this dress. (Shown above. Haha I know the picture quality isn't that great.. and I call myself a photographer..) Ditch your jeans ladies, and bring out the denim dresses. The Denim babydoll dress I got can be found at H&M. Along with that I bought the lemon stone bangle, and some fab heels. (Not the ones shown above though.) What I love about this dress is that I could totally dress it up, or down. Throw on some chucks along with a cardi, and keep it casual with a few simple accessories. Want to dress it up? Those killer heels and statement jewelry will do. So who's feeling the denim dress trend?

Fashionably Disney ♥

Thought I'd share these with you all. Stumbled upon it through Becks! I especially love the one of Karl Lagerfeld & Alber Elbaz. xx

Breathing Underwater

Busy, busy week. Fell ill on Thursday, ended up missing classes on Friday.. and back to school on Saturday to drop off some assignments. Busy with a few shoots lined up, and maybe my somewhat big break on the way. I'll def let you guys know when the details are finalized! Here's a teaser from a shoot I did over the weekend. Styling + Hair & Makeup by yours truly :)

On another note, I've been extremely stressed as of late. I'm so glad I took a break from working.. I think if I didn't, I would have collapsed by now. Weirdly enough though, I work well under pressure. For the most part anyways. However at times I feel like I could break down at any given time. Sometimes I question whether I should be doing this many things at once. I probably take on more than I should have.. and it usually works out in the end, but in the meantime.. the stress is the part I'll have to deal with. No pain no gain? Mm we'll see. 7 months to go. I'm not sure I'm ready to leave this beautiful city..

P.S I went to the Make it Show the other day, and it was pretty fun. Finally met the lovely Kym of Herrohachi Designs! Def check out her stuff, it's too awesome to pass up on!
