I've been really enjoying these past couple of days. Yes, I'm practically living THE life right now. Pretty grateful for this break that I have though. School-free (not for long though! that's why I'm enjoying every bit of what I have left of my break), massage appointments, lunch dates, shopping and enjoying what Vancouver has to offer. What more can I ask for right? Been stumbling on some of Vancouver's hidden gems.. and I have to say, I'm blown away. It's such a beautiful city. Growing up in Metropolitan City (Singapore), I never really got to appreciate nature. I was constantly surrounded by skyscrapers, high-rise apartments, major shopping centers, and the hustle and bustle of city life.
Waking up in Vancouver
Looking from a distance ♥
"You ever look at a picture of yourself, and see a stranger in the background?. It makes you wonder how many strangers have pictures of you. How many moments of other people's life have we been in. Were we a part of someone’s life when their dream came true, or were we there when their dream died. Did we keep trying to get in? As if we were somehow destined to be there or did the shot take us by surprise. Just think, you could be a big part of someone elses life, and not even know it."
- Lucas Scott, One tree hill
When the music fades, all is stripped away
(BHLC Band. MIA: Vui & Nancy)
Today was the VUM Benefit concert.. and I'm glad to say it went smoothly well! To be honest, at the beginning of it, I was SO nervous. Wasn't our usual crowd of audience. But, right before we went on to open for Infinitus, I reminded myself that it wasn't about how well I sang, but it's all for God. That actually managed to take all my nervousness away, and I was able to enjoy being up there serving. Good job to the rest of the band! We rocked it ;)
Oh and since Christmas is just around the corner, have you guys started your shopping yet?
Catch of the day and Mr.Sunshine
Finally some sunshine! Great weather always puts me in an uplifting mood, which is great. A little on the chilly side though, but it's all good. I hope Mr.Sunshine is here to stay for a few more days. I can hope right? Anyways, we headed to Richmond today for some fresh seafood lunch. PaJo's was closed unfortunately.. so our second choice was Sockeye City Grill, at Steveston. Quite delish I would have to say. I shall end this post with pictures!! Enjoy, xo.
And here's our awesome seafood platter!
We somehow got lost and ended up here..
The rest of the pictures can be found here. Oh, check out my new ride btw. You like? Wink*

Two is better than one ♥
I remember what you wore on the first day
You came into my life and I thought
"Hey, you know, this could be something"
'Cause everything you do and words you say
You know that it all takes my breath away
And now I'm left with nothing
So maybe it's true
That I can't live without you
And maybe two is better than one
There's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you've already got me coming undone
And I'm thinking two is better than one
Bringin' the old school back
So I've been watching Glee lately.. a lot of it actually. And I must say, it's amazingly good. It's somewhat like High School Musical, just 10x better haha. Better story line, and a much better cast as well. The choir vocals and dance numbers are off the charts. I actually think I'll purchase their soundtrack. (knowing me, I hardly ever purchase CDs unless I know they're worth getting) Watching that series though, has brought back a ton of memories. From my choir days, to the songs that I used to listen to. Endless Love + True Colors! The Glee Cast's rendition of it is pretty awesome! Speaking of music.. There will be a concert held at BHLC (2575 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver B.C) this upcoming Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. It's the Benefit Concert hosted by VUM (Vancouver Urban Ministries). Unfortunately, it does fall on the same day as the Starfield Concert. Our Youth Band (Shauna, Sam, Kevin, Nancy, Vui Heong and myself) will be opening for Infinitus. Check out their site if you're interested in finding out more about them. There will also be a fundraising dinner prior to that, with Sushi & Pizza I believe. Cost is approximately $3-5, and the entry for the concert is by donation. Anyways come support us if you happen to be free on that Saturday! xo
Sleepless in Vancouver
Since I can't seem to fall asleep due to my odd sleeping hours, here's something I wasted my time with. I'm going to tag all the girls on my blogroll! Have fun ladies! xo
You have a variety of looks but what’s your favorite?
I have quite a diverse range of styles, but nothing beats a great dress, and some fab heels. I think finding the perfect dress (that can be versitile as well), is so important. I defintely can be a girly-girl at times, but I still like to take it up a notch with an edge. Lately my favorite look has to consist of lace, ruffles, florals, and silk.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Anywhere really. People on the street, friends, fashion blogs, just to name a few. You just know when you've seen something that inspires you.
Favorite brands:
Marc Jacobs, Wilfred, Alexander Wang, Talula Babaton, Chanel, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Zara, Bebe, Marciano. List goes on really.
Style icons?
Hmm, at the moment, it would have to be Lauren Conrad. She is always so effortlessly chic, and polished. But overall, I would have to say Audrey Hepburn. She has always been an inspiration for class and elegance. Her style has been greatly admired in the fashion industry.
What is one piece of clothing / accessory you think every girl should have?
Statement items. A pair of staple pumps in black or a nude shade, or that versatile dress.
Favorite purchase EVER?
My Wilfred crepe boyfriend blazer. Best investment yet.
What tops your wish list?
At the moment, it would have to be Tiffany & Co.'s heart tag necklace.
Top 3 must-haves in your wardrobe?
A great dress, a blazer, and the perfect pair of heels.
Worst trends?
Spandex tracksuit with HEELS. Seriously ladies, have some class! And I would have to say..the gangster wear. i.e Ed Hardy, Affliction, etc. It does not make you hardcore by default. And guys, blinged out R&Rs? Not cool. At all. And last but not least, CROCS! I don't care if they're comfy! It is not meant to be worn out in public.
Gift of a friend ♥
Miss this girl tons! ♥ Within that short span of time we've gotten to know each other, it's been such a ball. Since she did a post on me quite some time ago, here's hers. First off, Sueann, I miss you! I wish we had more time when I was back. I still haven't been to Sentosa with you. And of course all the partying we have yet to do. Such a waste we didn't get to go the last time either. Oh wells, we will always have "Prom Night" and Kandi Bar ;) Right babe? I have yet to do so many things with you, and it sucks that we're at opposite ends of the world. Makeovers, shopping, bar hopping, beach bars, and karaoke. I remember the first time i met you, you bought me dinner at Holland V, and we had the same shoes in different colors! Gladiators baby. Following that day, I think I spent like the next couple of days hanging out with you as well. Anyways, here's my shout out to you. hopefully I'll get to see you soon! Remember I'm always one call away babe. xo
It's never that simple
I'm officially sick. This is the most sick I've been in years, and it's an awful feeling. body aches, the cold, sore throat, headaches.. list goes on. I've been hiding under the blanket for the most part, and I've shut myself away from everyone. (Quarantine time. Don't wanna get y`all sick as well!) even Ben & Jerry's can't help this time round. The fam went out without me today, and did some major shopping. Today out of all days. Oh wells, I will have my fair share of fun next week.. provided I'm feeling much better. It's times like these I miss you. I remember when you used to put up with my crap and came over to check up on me. You would bring me whatever I wanted to eat (even though in the end you would buy what you thought would be good for me), and made sure I took my meds. you even kept me company, and you didn't care if you got sick ♥ (yah I know I was such a princess) It's nice having someone to take care of you when you're ill. Sadly, that doesn't really happen to me anymore. I mean, there's always friends who care and would take care of you, but it's not the same. I'm sure most of you would agree. Nothing beats your significant other being there. Sigh* i need a hug :( Why is it that even years after everything, the past still haunts us?
P.S I watched this pretty remarkable Christian movie on Friday. It's called Fireproof. Really touched my heart. You guys should def check it out, cause it's worth the watch. The soundtrack is pretty awesome as well. One of the songs that has since stuck with me is While I'm waiting - John Waller. Give it a listen! xo

Shanghai Noon
Today was family day. Fam Jam? You could say so. Can't beat hanging out with Melanie though. Headed to Shanghai Wonderful: 8380 Lansdowne Road #110 Richmond, BC (weird name, I know. but don't let the name throw you off.) for lunch. I haven't been there for quite some time. The last time I was there for a meal was probably back in 2006. The cuisine there though, never ceases to amaze. Their Xiao Long Bao + Hot and Sour Soup is a must for an order. Add the Cherry Pork onto that. Great food for a reasonable price. One of the best Shanghainese restaurants for sure! After that, we ran some errands and then headed to ..
And I bought a desk. (Thanks fam for helping with fixing it up and carrying it up the stairs!) In the middle of re-decorating my room, so I'm picking up things here and there. Saw the lovely Audrey Hepburn canvas art. Tempted to buy it! lol wasn't in the greatest mood today. Especially at Ikea, so I'm terribly sorry if it showed! On another note, I'm taking a break from packing just to blog. Life hasn't been that interesting lately, except for the fact that I got into fashion school! back to classes in January. Birthday month, woot! I'm very very excited to move onto the next phase in my life, and finally get to go to school for what I love. Everything seems to be slowly falling into place, and I'm so grateful to God for paving this path for me. Even though things might not be smooth sailing all the time, I can't say that I'm not blessed. Anywhos, back to packing. Shall keep you guys updated! xo
Be inspired to make a difference ♥
I just came home from the screening of the i heart revolution. Now that I've seen it, I can say that it is truly inspiring and life-changing. Throughout the screening, a lot ran through my mind and my heart. I feel completely wanting to do something, in some small way or another. Just something within my means. However small or big that is. If there's a need, we should try our best to meet it. Even if it's a small need that needed to be met, when you care, it really does make a difference in someone else's life. Even though sometimes we might feel like we're just one person, and what difference could we possibly make.. but sometimes, that's all it takes. It's sad to say that we now live in a society whereby, we as people train ourselves to not think about the sufferings and hurt in people that we see on the street or undeveloped countries. We've turned a blind eye, and it's dissapointing to know that seeing that around us has become so normal for us to just not care. I think one of the main things that stood out for me from this film, is that Jesus died on the cross for us not to show us religion, but to show us His love. And I guess the best way we can be like Him, as His children, is to give love to His people. We have a chance to make a difference. It's not when we are done chasing our dreams, or when we finally have our act together. But the time is right now. This is it. Our choices, and our changes will make a difference in our future. With hearts as one, we can make that difference. Ask yourself. What can you do today, to be part of the solution? Be part of that generation, that rises up to take their place. Be a generation that Loves.
25 things about me
1. When I buy my own house, the first room I'm going to decorate is my study. I love having an area in my house away from all the noise, and have walls filled with boards of inspiration. Oh and bookshelves filled with interesting books! I miss that. It was the one place I could fully concentrate and be at ease.
2. I’m a pretty honest person. If you ask, I'll tell you straight-up what I think. But then there are times where I tend to keep to myself. Then you would know it's probably one of those bad days, and it's best to leave me alone.
3. I don't really like people using my computer. Unless you're a good friend or family.
4. My favourite date spot would probably be the beach. Picnic by the beach? I'm sold. I also like late night drives down to the beach. Hearing the waves crashing, and being in the cool breeze.. Ah pure relaxation.
5. I can be pretty fascinated by nature. If you bring me to a place with a clear sky and tons of stars, I could probably sit there forever and gaze at them.
6. I love anything to do with making things pretty. I love art. Fashion, interior design, photography, make-up artistry, you name it, I love it.
7. I'm most fascinated by the Aussie accent.
8. I'm a SUV-girl. I don’t like driving small cars and driving behind bigger cars.
9. If you met me, you would think that I'm a pretty easy-going person. I know I am anyways. I'm fairly easy to talk, and relate to. Some say I'm an open-book at times, just cause' I'm straight up. Good or bad thing? You be the judge.
10. The easiest way to cheer me up, is show up with my favourite ice-cream, and have a conversation with me. Oh singing badly and acting silly works like a charm as well.
11. The person I hold the most respect for, is my grandfather.
12. You sing and play the guitar? Why hello! One of the ways to my heart.
13. I have a thing for gadgets. Pink gadgets. Pink psp, pink cellphone, pink iPod cover, pink camera, pink net book. Yes i know it's girly.
14. I was a really spoiled kid back in the day. I'm not like that now, I swear!
15. I hate balloons. And the sound it makes when it pops.
16. I've been writing journals since I was 10. To date, I have around 8 books filled with entries from the past. It's kept hidden, just cause' my most embarrassing and juicy details are in there. Not even my boyfriend would be allowed to sneak a peak.
17. I can speak a total of 3 languages. how multi-lingual! not really.
18. I'm always up for shopping. If you need some shopping done, call me. I will gladly do it for you.
19. I love to sing. Anywhere and everywhere. In the car, in the shower. Something I have been embarrassed by. oops
20. When I was 3, being the rebel that I am, I decided it would be fun to pull the iron cord from the ironing board. Well that went well. Skin drafts and a few operations later, I was left with a scar on my fingers and leg. My first battle scar.
21. I have the tendency to change my camera every year. Don't ask. Bad Habit.
22. I used to game a lot when i was a kid. Yeah Nintendo and first gen play stations! now that I have the ps3, those close to 400 games are sitting in the basement collecting dust. Sad.
23. Swimming, while I was younger.. was a weekend chore for me. My dad would drill us with endless swimming lessons, always pushing us to do more, till I hated it. 40 laps/day in olympic sized pools? Yeah it was killer.
24. Every birthday, I blow out my candles and make a wish. I’ve been wishing for the same thing every year for as long as I can remember.
25. I can't live without my blackberry. I feel naked without it. That is why they call it the crackberry. It's like you on crack.
